Well today I went surfing for the first time. My dad, my brother and I rented some boards and wetsuits and headed for Short Sands just south of Cannon Beach. Not too many people there, and the few that made the ten-minute hike to the beach were beginners as well.
It was exhilarating! The water was warm with the suits on, and it was nearly 70 degrees out there anyway. We spend almost three hours paddling out and riding in. I was surprised because there were actually waves that I would consider large. Didn't know anything like that was found on the Oregon Coast. Of course, most waves weren't huge and I was able to get up a few times. Getting up on the board makes all that paddling worth it.
