Ahhh yes, that time of year again. Rafting. You can never go wrong in Maupin, Oregon, when you have your friends, some kick-ass whitewater and a little beer thrown in for good measure.
This year we had about 25 people, three rafts, two innertubes and an inflatable Shamu. My new self-bailing 14' Momentum seemed invincible, until we realized that the added structure of the floor chamber caused the thing to act like a springboard. Devil's Hole, normally a mild ride that catches you by surprise, catapulted me from the back of the raft to the front in the blink of an eye. Then Oak's Springs used the raft to eject Troy and I from the back and front of the raft into some of the most dangerous water on the river. We had a nice swim, Troy got some scrapes and bruises but I climbed out OK. Another run at Oaks caused us to lose Bob... and Jeremy's raft lost Janine. Everyone was safe at the end of the day though, at least in our group. There was at least one, possibly two, casualties at Oaks Springs on Saturday. Very scary.
Well, that is all for now. I am exhausted and need a long nap. Enjoy the photos! (click on one to view them all)
